Peter Maier Obituary

Peter Maier and his twin brother Paul were born on the Maier family farm north of Paradise Hill. Peter attended Kilronan School and worked on the farm.  Peter liked cattle and horses and especially loved dogs. The cowboy imagery fascinated him and Peter and Paul competed at the Onion Lake Stampede riding bucking broncs where they did very well for first timers. A few years later Peter took out a professional card and entered the Rimbey Rodeo where he bit the dust quite hard and after that you never heard of rodeo again.  Peter, with the help of his brother Raymond, bought 70 purebred Charolais cows, which was really not the right thing to do as Peter always said he preferred Herford cattle to Charolais.  He wasn't crazy for old time or country music and would turn the radio dial to rock music, his favorite was Elvis Presley.  The last many years of his life were spent out on his quad and he would leave the yard as early as 7 a.m. many mornings.
He was predeceased by:  his parents, Wilhelm and Theresa; his brother, Carl; his sister, Hilda; his sister-in-law, Joyce Maier; his brother-in-law, Frank Bokenfohr; and his nephew, Gordon Bokenfohr.
Peter leaves to mourn:  his twin brother, Paul, his  brother, Raymond; his brother, Joe (Hazel) and their family; his sister, Margaret and her family.
