Paul Novlan Obituary

Paul passed away suddenly on March 10, 2008 with his wife, Mary, and long time friend, Jenny Looshorn, by his side.
Left to cherish his memory are: his loving wife, Mary; daughter, Linda Nasby and her children, Angie, Jeff, Kevin, and Kallie; great-grandchild , Anthony Joshua Williamson; daughter, Judy Smith and her children, Kristine, Andrea, and Matthew; sister, Margaret McCammon; and brother, Clem (Beatrice)Novlan
Paul was born in Paradise Hill, SK to Frank and Caroline Novlan, the second youngest son of a family of two daughters and seven sons. Paul took all of his schooling at Paradise Hill. He was an ambitious young lad who started working at various jobs at the age of 12. Paul moved to St. Walburg in 1945 to help build a garage, F. Novlan and Sons (which later became Novlan Bros). He spent many years as part owner and mechanic of Novlan Bros., as well as farming with his brothers at Paradise Hill, SK. In 1947, Paul met the love of his life, Mary Schneider, and they were married on June 5, 1950.
Paul was an outstanding member of the community. He served for several years on the St. Walburg Town Council and for 30 years on the Fire Brigade. He was an active member of the Elks Lodge in St. Walburg from its inception in 1955 until his death.
Paul had many interests including sports (baseball, hockey, curling, and bowling), hunting, fishing, spending time with friends and family, and generally enjoying the outdoors.
Paul overcame many hurdles throughout his life. He was a recovered alcoholic, ex-smoker, cancer survivor, and overcame a severe case of shingles. He lived the past few years of his life accepting his limitations and enjoying his family, friends, and community to the best of his ability - living one day at a time.
Paul will be missed by his family and all his friends who were so dear to him.
