Mary Dyck Obituary

Covid Regulations will apply for the Celebration of Life. The service will be Livestreamed on Marshalls Funeral Home Facebook Page.

On Wednesday, February 10th, 2021, at 8:53 a.m., Mary Violet Priscilla Dyck (Simpson) peacefully passed away at the Meadow Lake Hospital.  She was born on August 12, 1941, in Loon Lake at the Red Cross Hospital to Robert and Ellen Simpson.  Mary was raised in Loon Lake on her parents homestead.  Mom would self-proclaim that she was a tom boy and professed her love of horses and all other animals on the farm, except for the four legged mice.  Mary was a story teller and would mention, with a twinkle in her eye how spoiled she was by her five brothers and sister. Mary loved to dance and it was here at a local community dance where she met the charismatic Rodger.  They fell in love and became best friends for life. They had a blessed marriage for 53 years and had been gifted with 5 children, 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Mary had a servant heart.  Her gifts and contribution to her community and friends were given with endless energy.  Mary gave new meaning to the word volunteer. She gave with a sense of pride and dedication to the Loon Lake Legion, UCW, Seniors Centre, Co-Organizer for the Community Theatre Banquets, and a volunteer for the Evergreen Villa. Mary found her career path in building connections to community members through working at the local grocery store, hospital, golf course, bronson pasture, and managing the low income housing board.
Mary was predeceased by: her husband, Rodger Dyck; her oldest daughter, Karen Lynn Dyck; her parents, Robert and Ellen Simpson; her sister, Helen (Herb); her brothers,  James, Francie (Audrey), John (Doris) and Alan; her nephew, Wayne; her nieces, Judy Simpson and Marie Klarenbach;  as well as her beloved  four legged boyfriend, Riley.
Mary was a dedicated mother, grandmother and will be forever remembered by: her children, Barry (Gloria) Dyck, Terry (Charla) Dyck, Cheryl (Dean) Brockman,  and Shelley (Shannon) MacNeill; her grandchildren, Jolene Dyck (Devin Smidt), Dustin Dyck (Chelsey), Shane Dyck (Jessica), Chaylene Dyck, Connor, and Parker; her great-grandchildren, Maria, Cooper, Peyton, Claira, Kaebree, and Kamdyn; and all of who she loved and touched deeply and has left an ever lasting imprint in each and every heart.
