Marion "Rose" Schlekewy (Bolig) was born on April 20, 1931 in North Battleford, SK., to Andrew and Rosa Bolig.  She was part of a large extended family of 9 Bolig and 7 Schiller half brothers and sisters, as well as a nephew who came to live with them at a young age, and grew up with them.
     
Rose married Louis Schlekewy on July 27, 1949 and they raised a family of ten children.  Louis passed away on March 23, 1982.  Life on the farm was busy milking cows, and tending to the many things that needed doing.  She always had a huge garden.  Rose enjoying cooking and baking and especially berry-picking and preserving many jars for winter.  Her forté was sewing and making quilts.  Rose made most of the children's clothes when they were small and continued to fix and repair as they grew older and moved away bringing things home on their visits.  She made many quilts out of old polyester clothing, wasting nothing.  Rose was a waste not want not type of person.  She was also a loyal member of the C.W.L. for 64 years, receiving her lifetime membership on her 50th C.W.L. service year.    She also served as president for a term.  She catered and helped at many events and weddings.  This was her "Rose" time away from home.  Sunday and church were very important for her family.  She also loved to dance and that is where she met Ed Bunz, her special friend, in 1989.  She moved to Humboldt, SK., in 1990.  Ed passed away on June 29, 2015.  Rose moved back to St. Walburg to the Lakeland Manor in November 2018.  She resided there until her passing on October 30, 2020.
     
Rose is survived by: her children, Rosemarie (Cliff Ferguson), Joanne (Ron Harris), Madeline Smith and her children, Chad Smith, Corine Smith White (Darren White) and their son, Lawson and daughter, Frankie, Dorothy and her son, Dean (Jill) and their daughter, Mira and son, Kaz, Shirley (Norman Passmore), James, John (Sandra) and their daughters, Kelsi & Jodi, Geraldine (Herb Giesbrecht) and their daughters, Raya (Justin), Calla (Angel), and Alana; her son-in-law, Clinton Gory; Ed's children, Cheryl, Kevin, Terry, and Mark and their families. her sisters-in-law, Joan Pollock (Bolig), and Elma Schlekewy; and many nieces and nephews.
     
She is predeceased by: her parents, Andrew and Rosa Bolig; her husband, Louis; her son, Robert; her daughter, Donna Gory; her special friend, Ed Bunz; all of her siblings; and her mother and father-in-law, Anna and Mathias Schlekewy.
        
Rose led a full and happy life and her memories will live on. We will miss Rose and all the love she gave us.
