Leo led a full and eventful life. He believed in higher learning and obtained numerous diplomas and a degree. He sat as both Chief and Councillor for Onion Lake Cree Nation. Leo was passionate about history. He did a lot of research regarding his family and Nation's history; which was also instrumental in moving the Nation forward. Leo enjoyed life and believed in and practiced his culture. He was the grandfather of the Friendship Centre in Lloydminster, as he was instrumental in bringing it into fruition.
Leo is predeceased by: his father, William Gilbert Quinney; his mother, Mary Therese Quinney; his brothers, Matthew Quinney and Walter Quinney; his sisters, Vera Quinney and Victoria Quinney; and his auntie, Catherine Quinney.
He is survived by: his brothers, Leonard Quinney, Moise Paul, John Quinney (Lottie), and Hector Quinney; his sisters, Veronica Waskahat, Valerie Paul and Violet Quinney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
