Kelvin Baragar

There will be a Celebration of Life for Kelvin on August 14, 2021 at the Makwa Community Centre.

     Kelvin Baragar was born on August 14, 1932 in Reliance, Saskatchewan. He was the youngest of 13 children of Elizabeth and Bidwell Baragar. Kel passed away peacefully on July 16, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.  Kel was raised and went to school in the Reliance District where he experienced life during the dirty 30’s on the family farm. He met and married Marion Bachman in 1952 and they had three children – Laurie, Trudy and Brad. Kel and Marion started out their new life in B.C. where he worked until they moved back to the Meadow Lake/Makwa area. They had many happy years together raising their family until 1991 when Marion lost her lengthy battle with heart disease.  After Marion’s passing, Kel continued to live in the Makwa community until he married Helen Lefebvre on Dec. 29th. 2001 and with that marriage he was blessed with four more children – Brad, Ron, Brian & Leanne. Kel & Helen enjoyed almost 20 years together, socializing, playing cards, wintering in Yuma, and doing the weekly farmers market where Helen sold her baking and garden produce and Kel sold his wood working items. Kel will always be remembered for his willingness to lend a helping hand, his love for his family and many friends. But especially he will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor which was always guaranteed to brighten some ones day.
     Kel was predeceased by: his parents, Elizabeth and Bidwell Baragar; his first wife, Marion; and his great-granddaughter, Kensie Baragar.
     He is survived by: his wife of 19 years, Helen; His son, Laurie (Noreen); his daughter, Trudy (Ray) Scherr; and his son, Brad (Shauna) Baragar; his stepchildren, Brad (Joanne) Lefebvre, Ron (Ilda) Lefebvre, Brian (Alexis) Lefebvre, and  Leanne (David) Sweizak; his grandchildren, Colin (Melinda) Baragar, Brent (Laura) Baragar, Melissa McMorrow, Matt (Karen) Scherr, Monty (Laura) Scherr, Megan(Justin) Dallyn, Tyler (Pam) Wilson, Sara (Ashton) Wilson, Emily (Austin) Wilson, Kira (James) Taylor, Braydon Lefebvre, Jesse Lefebvre, Dakota Lefebvre, Alex Lefebvre, Tristan Lefebvre, Shaine Lefebvre, Brady (Taylor) Lefebvre, Cade (Maddison) Lefebvre, Rylan Lefebvre, Breanne Sweizak (Geoff), and Colton (Cordelia) Sweizak; his great-grandchildren,  Shae Baragar, Ashley Baragar (Rae), Jenna Baragar (Austin) Dakota McMorrow, Sierra McMorrow, Dominic McMorrow, Tatum Scherr and Jack Scherr, Maddison Taylor & Patrick Taylor, Quinn, Clay & Lyndi Dallyn, Colter Wilson, Leni McIntyre; and his great-great-grandchild, Hadley Croteau.
