Karen Chelsea Rose Chief

December 8, 1988 ~ March 8, 2022 (age 33)

Karen was Karen; everyone knew Karen!  She was adventurous, very humorous, and always had a hopeful smile on her beautiful face.  She loved her family very much and would always go out of her way to make sure they were cared for with her kind, generous heart.  She was strong, resilient and fearless too.  Her vibrant, lively, outspoken spirit will always be remembered and be dearly missed.  She was raised in Vauxhall, AB and Ministikwan Cree Nation, and spent most of her childhood traveling to powwows with her family drum group; Little Island Cree.  She loved dancing in her jingle dress regalia at every powwow she attended and she loved signing at rounddances too.  She spent her remaining years in Regina, SK., and is now with the creators comforting presence where she gently rests.
Karen is forever remembered by:  her beloved and beautiful daughter, Shase Brandel; her mother, Alice (Carlton); her siblings, Dexter Whitford, Eric "Mumphy" Jr., Everet Chase (Kristen), Loralee (Cory), Priscilla, Keegan and Lyndon Kahpoonapit; her nephews, Baby Eric, Windyboy, Waylon and Billy; her nieces, Lyric, Khalayah, Dinaye, Cree, Kyah, Avaree and Sarah; her godmother, Carol Desjarlais; her godfather, Charlie Martell; her adopted brother, Jason Daniels; her paternal uncles, Clayton (Helen), Harvey (Bertha), Alvin (Sonya), Edward, Harold and Dwayne (Melissa); her paternal aunts, Betty-Ann(William), Wanda and  Lillian; her maternal aunts, Theresa, Lucie and Emily.
She was predeceased by:  her loving father, Eric Chief Sr. (2003); her brothers, Sidney Whitford and Brandon Chief (2007); her niece, baby Ella (2020); her maternal grandparents, John and Theresa Larocque; her paternal grandparents, Joseph (Delma) Chief and Maryanne Sillyman; and her maternal uncles, Peter, Joseph and Alex.
