Julia Ann Helgason (Wapass) was born in Thunderchild on May 6, 1948. She grew up in Thunderchild alongside her siblings until her early twenties. She enjoyed riding horses and could easily jump over a team of horses. She was very atheltic in high jump and playing baseball with the Thunderchild Rockets. Every time she came to bat, it was a guaranteed home run. She was a hotel manager at three different hotels and didn't need a bouncer at any of them. She was both the bouncer and the security. When she threw a punch, you were either knocked out or you knew you better stay down. Julie had a high standard of cleanliness for herself and also around her house. She was always dressed up and looked good every time she left the house. Julie was a friend to many, her door was always open and you were invited in. If you were hungry she would share her dinner, if you were sad she would listen and comfort your tears. And if you were misbehaving, she would give you a scolding. Julie always wanted the best for everyone. Her grandchildren say their grandma made sure they knew she loved them and she made sure to say "I love you".
She leaves behind: her son, Delbert (Doreen), and grandchildren, Dakota, Napew (Helen), Delanie (Yuchan), and Doryen (Kristin), her daughter, Janet (Peter), and grandchildren, Tanisha Chapan Parker, Paisley, and Durylle (Tucker), her daughter-in-law, Tanya, and grandchildren, Cain, Jade (Tellisha), Anthony, Monty, Gabriel, Jeremy, Keenan, and Joy, her son, Calvin; her brother, Billy Wapass Sr. (Theresa); her sisters, Celia Clennell (Brad), Bernice Wapass, and Gladys Wapass McAdam (Jim); her adopted brother, Paul Morin (Connie); and many nieces and nephews, which were all adored by her with love.
