Obituary

Joseph Ernest Winkler was born on August 7, 1940, in the district of Brightsand, Saskatchewan.  Joe was the youngest of four children born to Franz and Wilhelmina Winkler.  The Winkler family immigrated to Canada from Czechoslovakia in 1939, they arrived in Halifax, then came to St. Walburg by train.  Franz and Wilhelmina then moved with a team and wagon to settle in the Brightsand area with their three daughters.  Later on the farm they welcomed their son, Joe.  Joe was the only child born in Canada.  Throughout Joe's childhood he grew a passion and love for farming.  Joe later met the love of his life, Doris Beausoleil, and they married on July 10, 1961.  Later they welcomed their son, Ken; their daughter, Anne; and their youngest son, Wayne.  Shortly after they moved into their forever home near St. Walburg where Joe continued his farming career until his retirement.  Throughout Joe's life, he enjoyed farming, family gatherings, coffee row, bowling, curling and the occasional cattle sale.  Wherever Joe went there was always a good chat and long laughs exchanged.
Joe was predeceased by: his loving wife, Doris Winkler, after 42 years of marriage; and his three sisters, Irma, Trudy and Margarita.
He leaves to mourn his passing: his three children, Ken (Helen) and their son, Gabriel; Anne (Bob) and their children, Travis (Brooklyn), Matthew (Chardel) and their daughter, Mila, Scott (Amanda) and their daughter, Madeline, Wayne (Dana) and their children, Bailey, Brittany and Amber; and his loving partner, Mae Trotzuk.
