John Smith Obituary

John (Jack) Robert Smith was born on June 15, 1949 in Cabri, SK to James and Marian Smith. He grew up farming and completed grade 10 and continued to work on the family farm where his pets were horses and dogs. He spent many happy summers and holidays at Onion Lake which is where he met his wife Betty. They were married at Onion Lake on November 6, 1971. Jack and Betty and their children lived in Cabri until 1980 when they moved to Onion Lake where he was ordained the same year. His favorite things to do were hunting, fishing and preaching and teaching the gospel. Jack and Betty served the Lord and the community through their ministry, and Pastor Jack retired in 2015. Pastor Jack stated that if he could live his life over he would do it with enthusiasm," and he said “I want my family to remember me for keeping my eyes on Jesus."  Even until the end during his struggles with complex illnesses, he always made time to pray and listen to those that needed support.
He is predeceased by: his wife, Betty Smith; his father, James Smith; his mother, Marian Smith; and his brothers, William and Wayne Smith.
John leaves to mourn:  his children, Susan Harper, Katryna Smith, Karla Bird and Crystal Smith; his grandchildren, Abigail Williamson (Lewis) and David Bird; his sister, Denise Sanchez; and his loving friend, Dorothee Laliberte.

" Live life to the fullest and serve others. Don't hold back anything"
