John Samuel Cook AKA "Johnny" was born in Onion Lake Cree Nation on July 22, 1956 to Simon and Violet (Heathen) Cook. He was the fifth child of 13 siblings. In 1999, he took life skills for six months and after that he worked at Onion Lake Public Works until his retirement in 2021. He enjoyed playing bingo along with his two amigos, the late Clement and Hubert Cardinal. He always mentioned how he missed his mechanic and best friend, Christopher Hill. Johnny was a hard working and humble man, a man of few words, he expressed his love through his actions and was a selfless man who touched so many lives. He was well known for his pride, and all various jobs in our community, especially cleaning, lawn mowing, and the grave yards; sometimes we called him ' The Undertaker."
He was predeceased by: his father, Simon (1972); his mother, Violet (1993); his brothers, Roddy (1992), Lawrence (1980) and Allen (1953); his nephew, Karl (1978); and his grandson, Legacy (2020).
John leaves to mourn his passing: his siblings, Helen, Madeline, Doris, Wendy (Kenny), Wilson, Alice (Bobby), Leona (Curtis), Burton and Glenn; his numerous nephews and nieces; Johnny is also leaving behind his loyal friend, Hector Quinny whom he spent time with throughout the years.
