James Knight Obituary

James Herbert Knight was born on June 10th, 1956 to Gerald and Eileen Knight in Edmonton, AB. He was the oldest of four boys; Jim, Bill, Bob and Ross. Jim was raised and spent most of his life in St. Walburg, Saskatchewan.  He loved his hometown and often said how they had the best childhood with lots of kids in the neighborhood.  At a young age, horses and chuckwagon racing became his passion. In 1972 Jim began outriding and in 1977 he competed in his first chuckwagon race.  He never looked back.  Jim got to share this sport with many of his relatives and friends who became like family. In the off season, Jim was a businessman having previously owned the laundry mat, feed store, water and steam trucks, and worked as a drill bit salesman. Jim also enjoyed curling in St. Walburg, trips to Mexico, and coffee around any table, he would drop everything when someone stopped in for a drink.
Jim’s biggest love was his kids, Chad, Nicole, and Chantal as well as his many nephews and nieces. (whether they were related to him or not he was uncle Jim to all). He was extremely proud of his children, if you ever visited his home it was evident by the amount of portraits hanging on the walls of them. Jim loved to host and have his closest people around him, most memorable to his family were his famous Christmas parties at the “sugar shack”. Everyone from town was welcome, and Jim made sure when Santa arrived every child at the party was given a gift from him.
Although Jim's life was already full, it really began in 2009 when his first grandchild, Taysia, was born. There was nothing Jim loved more in this world than being Papa Jim. Axlyn, Cage and Halstyn soon followed making his life complete. He loved spending his winters at the hockey arena watching his grandkids, and the summers watching them ride horses and show him all the new things they were learning. Jim would beam talking about his grandchildren and was so proud of each of them.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald and Eileen Knight; and his niece, Vanessa.
Jim is survived by:  his children, Chad, Nicole (Jeff), and Chantal; his four grandchildren, Taysia, Axlyn, Cage, and Halstyn; his brothers, Bill, Bob (Karen) and Ross (Gail); and all his special nieces, nephews and extended family.
