Ida Francis Alexan

Ida was born on December 26, 1939 to Dominic and Maria Alexan in Ministikwan Cree Nation.  Ida met her husband, Paul Wahpistikwan, in Ministikwan and together they had 8 children.  She was a special lady to everyone she knew and met.  She was known as mama, kokom, chapan, auntie, chakos, and friend.
    
 Ida's greatest passion was loving and caring for her children and her grandchildren.  She enjoyed family time.  Every harvest she would join her family in Taber, Alberta for the potato harvest.  There they would enjoy her wonderful cooking and her bread making skills.  Ida lived a long and beautiful life and her work here is done.  
     
She is predeceased by: her husband, Paul Wahpistikwan; her parents, Dominic and Maria Alexan; her daughter, Lorianne Crookedneck; her grandson, Tristen Crookedneck; her sisters, Mary Louise Canepotatoe, Florence Paddy, Josephine Mason, and Maria Alexan; her brothers, Harry Alexan, and Rennie Alexan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
     
Ida is survived by: her children, Bernard (Muriel), Arnold, Dennis (Beatrice), Glen (Edna), Lee (Elaina), Tina (Jerry), Bobby (Elisha); her sister, Mary Jane Alexan; her grandchildren, chapans, and numerous nieces, and nephews.
