Ellen Marie Volk

After many years of coping with a number of very serious health conditions in the most unbelievably courageous, awe inspiring and grace filled manner, Ellen Marie Volk (Wourms) was set free, and left this world October 16th, 2021.  

She was born November 19th, 1934, in Morinville, AB, to Raymond & Mary Wourms (Hardes) and lived almost all of her life in St Walburg, SK.   It is there that she herself was raised, was married, and where her own children were raised.

Ellen lived her life always giving from her heart & soul - even as she was losing her health.  She believed in always being her best self no matter the situation, and did her best to instill that in her children.

She had a very strong appreciation for music. She not only liked listening to many kinds of music, but loved to dance as well.  She was also a self-taught accordion player which was something she really enjoyed doing in her younger years.

Her preserves from the garden were incredibly tasty, as were the pies and jams from freshly picked berries.  Her vast variety of cookies, cinnamon buns, amazing Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving meals, are fondly remembered by all, especially her grandchildren, some who have been many miles away for years.

She was a very talented seamstress, sewing some fabulous pieces of clothing for her children - not only dresses, pants, coats and jackets, but countless school concert, dance and figure skating costumes, as well as school graduation outfits, a wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses.  We absolutely loved each and every one and very proudly wore them.  She, as well, actually crocheted beautiful Afghan blankets for each of her six children and eleven grandchildren, with a mix of colors and designs of their choice.  They are deeply cherished by each of us.

Ellen was predeceased by: Mary, her mother; Raymond, her father; Paul, Edwin & Herbert, three of her brothers; and Irene (Gobeille), her only sister.

She leaves behind: her husband of 68 years, Pete; her children,  Carol, Elaine (Doug Thompson), Dwaine, Lynn (Al Gates), Norma (Sergy Hritzuk) & Geraldine (Garvin Nasby); her grandchildren,  Kyyan Volk, Joshua Thompson, Courtney Petkus (Volk) and Sheena Volk, Kayla Vandemark (Gates) and Casey Gordon (Gates), Jordan, Gerrid, and Cassidy Hritzuk, Trysta and Evan Nasby; and her great grandchildren,  Victoria Thompson, Mayson, Norah and Mikayla Petkus, Ryder and Sadie Volk-Kanigan, Maxen & Axl Vandemark, Hunter and Halle Gordon, Gage and Hayden Hritzuk, Keegan, Aiyana & Drake Hritzuk, and London and Roman Bernard; and her remaining brother, Lambert Wourms.
