Doreen Florence Speers

May 4, 1961 ~ October 6, 2021 (age 60)

Obituary

Doreen Florence Speers was born in Paradise Hill, SK. on May 4, 1961, and she was the 7th child born to Allan and Rema (Chief) Naistus.  Doreen and Lynn met while on a trip to Keely Lake, blueberry picking in 2001.  They started dating on August 22, 2001.  They moved in together the following year in July.  Their beautiful son, Emery, was born February 28, 2003.  Lynn and Doreen were married on June 13, 2003.  They travelled a lot and Doreen loved exploring, and having new and exciting adventures.  She worked as a home care aide at the health center until her illness made it too challenging to continue in 2007.  After that she retired and became a full time stay at home mom.  Doreen loved her son, she would do anything for him.  She was a devoted and protective mother.  Doreen loved her creative hobbies, and enjoyed beadwork and cooking.  She enjoyed planning events for family gatherings, and family vacations.  She would always ask how everyone was doing, and made you feel at home.  They usually took Tessa, who she took as her own daughter, on their vacations.  Doreen enjoyed meeting new people and made a lasting impression on all. She was always so thoughtful, kind and loving.  Doreen loved making people laugh with her many stories.  She would tell her stories for hours and make the same story sound exciting every time she told it.  Doreen would always say I love my family.

Doreen loved to plan special holiday family dinners, especially Christmas, and the family Chinese gift exchange, where she would bring the gift everyone wanted to get.  She always bought gifts ahead of time.  Doreen had many talents, she was a great cook and loved to try new recipes and was very creative in anything she put her mind to.  She loved to dress up and had great taste and style.  Doreen was the caregiver of her mother, Rema, until she went home to be with the Lord.  They would always travel to church and camp meetings together.

Doreen is predeceased by: her grandparents, Jimmy and Amy Chief; Joseph Naistus, and May Cecil Quinney; her parents, Allan and Rema Naistus; her siblings, Herman Garry, and James Naistus; the twins, Philip and Elizabeth; and her mother-in-law, Mary Speers.

She leaves to mourn her passing: her loving husband, Lynn Speers; her son, Emery Speers; her brothers, Gordon (Adrienne), Martin (Bernice), and Erwin; and her sisters, Hilda, Linda, Leona (Willard), Wanda (George), Evelyn, and Patricia.
