Donald Ernest Nichols was born in Turtleford, SK. on September 27, 1929 to Nora and Ernest Nichols. He was born into a family of five children, Donald, James, Jean, Gerald, Gordon and George. Don married Violet Graham on April 20, 1954 in Minitonas, MB. and together they had one son, Ernest Howard. They lived most of their lives in Alberta. Don loved both playing and watching hockey, fishing, camping and most of all spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Later in life he became a very accomplished bowler as well and attended many tournaments. His participation in the Saskatchewan Senior Games and the Canadian Senior Games, were just a couple of his proudest moments.
Don is survived by: one son, Ernie Nichols of Lloydminster; two grandsons, his pride and joy, Christopher Patrick Nichols and Callum Mackenzie Nichols; and his great grandchildren, Patrick Dean Nichols and Myah Rose Nichols; his daughter-in-law, Shannon; Christopher's Natasha Nutbrown and Callum's Gin Gerrits, his one brother, Gerald Nichols of Medicine Hat; and sister-in-law, Irene Nichols; and sister-in-law, Margaret Sainsbury of Winnipeg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
