Carol was passionate about her family, spending most of her time taking care of them. She was raised by her grandma, Mary Jane, who taught her the values of the traditional and cultural ways of life. In her younger days she was very athletic. She had a deadly arm in ball and a wicked spike in volleyball. She was also quite skilled in cutting up meat and smoking it, skills which she shared with others. Carol will be fondly remembered for her kindness and generosity. She was truly a gem and always a pleasure to be around. She had touched so many with her grace and her smile.
Carol is predeceased by: her parents, Charles Peepeekoot and Alice Mooswa; her daughter, Alanis Sweetheart Cantell; her paternal grandparents, Michael and Mary Jane Peepeekoot; her maternal grandparents, John and Mary Mooswa; her brother, Charles Jr.; and numerous aunts and uncles on both sides of the family.
She is survived by: her partner of 29 years, Jason Cantell; her children, Wyonna (Rayner) Cantell, Sue Ellen (Isaiah) Cantell, Jason Jr. (Dylan) Cantell, Jewel (Nick) Cantell, Tuff (Zephaniah) Cantell, Arianna Cantell, and Landon Cantell; her eight grandchildren; her adopted children, Kelly Kahpeaysewat, and Teniah Otuskeewapewisk; her siblings, Doris (Garnet) Belly, Lisa (Scott) Mooswa, Glen Mooswa, and Carlos (Violet) Mooswa.
Heaven knows we need never to be ashamed of our tears, for they are rain upon the blinding dust of earth, overlying our hurt hearts.
