Brian was born in Lloydminster, SK. on May 20, 1990 to Evelyn Cook and Anderson Opissinow. He had one son, Nathaniel Opissinow, whom he loved with all his heart. Brian grew up in the powwow circle. He started when he was just 4 years old, and began dancing traditional as he got older. Brian wanted to try chicken dancing. At that time there was no junior category so he had to dance with the men. Brian was known to have many nicknames, the very first one given to him was Kojack from his mosom, Norman. He was also called Beufart by his friends and cousins, and called beebee by his sisters as he was the only brother they had and only son his parents had. Brian also enjoyed playing hockey, his passion was hunting with his cousins. Brian spent most of his days being with friends and family.
He was predeceased by: his paternal grandparents, Norman Pahtayken (2021) and Julia Opissinow (2014); his maternal grandfather, Leo Belly (1977); his aunt, Lorraine Opissinow (1995); his uncle, Willis Heathen (2009); and his cousins, Shane Opissinow (2018), and Janice Cook (2018).
