Robert was born in Big River First Nation on April 9, 1945 to John and Susan Chamakese (nee Netmaker). He was raised by his grandma from the age of 3. Robert was a traditional man and attended many Sundances, Rounddances, and Powwows as well as other ceremonial activites. It was during a Sundance in 1973 that he met Gladys Crookedneck and fell in love. He moved to Mudie Lake where together they raised 9 children. Robert loved his family very much and taught what he could about the traditional way. He was part of the Cowboy Society for many years. He enjoyed playing bingo, snaring rabbits and providing for his family. During Rounddances and Sundances you would find Robert assisting in the ceremony.
Robert will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved him.
