Riley Joseph Bearboy, also known by his traditional name, “the Finest Feather,” was born to John and Hazel Bearboy on September 17, 1973 in Loon Lake, Saskatchewan. He was a proud member of Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation and was 46 years old.
Riley was passionate about his Culture and his Traditional upbringing. He exercised and believed in his Native rights around tribal laws and sovereignty, even representing himself, and winning in court. He was one of the greatest storytellers, and told anyone who would listen. He was gifted at making you be in awe about his experiences, when he told them.
Riley was funny, and sarcastic, always having a good comeback. He loved to have a good time. He loved music, and singing. He expressed himself through drawing and crafts, and making traditional necklaces. He loved old vintage muscle cars, and his dogs. Riley also loved his children, and his grandchildren were the light of his life. He had nicknames for most of his children; Ethan Jones, Kaos (Janae), Sonny (Riley Jr.), My Girl (Raelynn), Baby (Kelsey), Lalouise (Kayla), Nat (Natasha). Riley had a big heart for his friends and family. He was protective, caring and giving, he was always willing to help people; even if it meant the shirt off his back, he would give it. He was loved, by many.
