Peter Crookedneck (Pete) was born June 6, 1937 on the Ministikwan Lake Reserve; to Daniel and Florence Oseemeemow. Peter was a very generous man who had a heart of gold, he was very humble and extremely generous to those who crossed his path. He greeted everyone with his infectious smile and humour. He was a traditional storyteller who held the historic knowledge of his homeland, Island Lake First Nation. He was the Chief of his reserve from 1974 – 1989 and he served as a Councillor from 1989 – 1991. He finished his political career as an appointed Senator of the Meadow Lake Tribal Council. He also had a great love and passion for horses and was honored as a member of the Cowboy Society. Peter left behind a large legacy for his family to honor and he will truly be cherished and missed by all those who knew and loved him. He was a great man of God and is now sitting with the Heavenly Father in Heaven.
Peter was predeceased by: his loving wife, Maria; his daughter, Marvena; his grandsons, Quincy Jr. and Josiah; his 5 great grandchildren; his siblings, Minnie, Harriette, James and Louie; his daughter-in-law, Denise Mitsuing; and his parents, Daniel and Florence.
He leaves to mourn his passing: his 9 sons and 2 daughters, Harold (Rita), Emil (Pat), Clifford, Quincy (Louise), Darryl, Peter Stuart (Dawna), Jerry (Tina), Lorne (Betty), Dylan (Amber), Rona, and JoAnn; his sister, Emma Ernest; his 65 grandchildren, his 101 great grandchildren, and his 3 great great grandchildren.
