Elizabeth Standingwater Obituary

Our mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and chapan was one of the kindest, loving, most generous and respectful woman we will ever know. She loved and believed in her culture, passing on the many teachings that had been passed onto her, from beading and sewing to skinning and drying, there was always a story to go along with it.  Family was of the utmost importance to her and she truly cherished her grandchildren and chapans. She would watch the same disney movie repeatedly because the younger kids loved them.  From playing cards, dice, reading books, yahtzee and scrabble, there were always children around her. She loved her grandchildren and made sure each and every one of them knew how much she cared.  Mom believed in her culture and always said there was but one creator.  She loved going to church and singing with her  church friends.  She loved her bingo, travelling and visiting with friends.  We just knew she would be at every birthday party, graduation, sporting event, family dinner and family emergencies and  it made us all feel better just knowing she was there.  Her soft spoken, quiet demeanor was our rock.  She was dearly loved but we know she is happy now. For that we are truly grateful.
She is predeceased by:  her husband, Wilfred Antoine; her parents, Richard and Maria Standingwater; her sister, Amy Paddy; her children, Darlene, Clara and Roger Standingwater; her grandchildren, Angel Dayton, Jaime and Ronnie Standingwater, Bonnie Ann Paddy, and Shynen Mantee; and her nephew, Adam Standingwater.
Elizabeth is survived by:  her brothers, James (Bernice) Standingwater and Absolom (Laurraine) Standingwater; her children, Bernadine (John) Graham, Elaine (Alvin) Baptiste, Kenny Standingwater, Marcelle Standingwater, Derwin Standingwater and Janeen (Sid) Littlewolfe; her nieces, Gloria Paddy, Janet Paddy, Darlene (Blair) Sapp, Barbara (Ray) Moyah, Maria Standingwater, and Elizabeth Standingwater; her nephews, Barry (Laureen) Paddy, Rick Standingwater, James Standingwater, and Kelsey Standingwater; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and chapans; and her adopted daughters, Rema and Brenda Lewis.
Many thanks to her extended family of nurses and residents at the long term care facility at the Turtleford Hospital.
