Dora Masson Obituary

On the morning of Tuesday, May 22nd, 2018 at 8:45 am, Jesus stood up and welcomed our beautiful Mother, Kohkom, Chapan home. Dora Helen Masson was born on December 31st, 1945 in Onion Lake, Saskatchewan to Archie and Mary Masson. She remained in Onion Lake until marrying Gabriel Crookedneck on September 28th, 1963 at which point she began living in Minsitikwan First Nation, Saskatchewan where she would raise nine children; seven sons and two daughters. In the early 1980's, she attended CHR training in Fort Qu'Apelle, Saskatchewan which she would later put to use, serving the community of Ministikwan for over twenty years. Family was the center of Dora's life. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her so much joy. She had a sense of humour like no other and loved to tease and laugh, a trait which was passed on to her entire family. She had a strong faith and loved God with all of her heart. She extended her love beyond her immediate family and welcomed in many.
She will be remembered for walking into services with her tamborine and tape recorder in hand, as she would pull out a fresh cassette to record the music. Where she managed to find cassettes in this day in age, no one knows.
Some of her hobbies included going to second hand stores, yard sales, family get togethers and watching her favourite ball team, the Toronto Blue Jays, play. Our Mother, Kohkom, Chapan was the backbone of our family and we will all miss her greatly.
Dora is survived by: her sons, Roger (April), Glenn (Grenadine), Dexter (Laverne), Leon (Olivia), Patrick (Kim), Delwyn, and Burtie; her daughters, Vivian (Frank), and Melissa (Nicholas); her adopted sons, Norman Moosepayo, Pat Linklater Jr., and Isadore Chief; her sisters, Maggie Cook and Sara Masson; her thirty-eight grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by: the father of her children, Gabriel Crookedneck; her son, Laverne Crookedneck; her grandsons, Simon & Jolan; her granddaughter, Lindsey; her parents, Archie & Mary Masson; her brothers, Frank Masson, Joe Masson, Wilfred Masson, and Harry Masson; her sisters, Agnus Stanley and Clara Crookedneck.
